Date Night

Since COVID hit and going into mandatory lockdown Animal Crossing: New Horizons became my favorite activity. I recently got my own Switch a few months ago and had the privilege of creating my own island instead of borrowing someone’s Switch and playing on their island. I goofed on my Island name and by the time I realized I was too deep into my game to want to restart and change it. It will forever be known as Endor . That is right, Endor with a space behind ‘r’. It is what it is and there is no going back.

Having to start my own island from scratch is probably one of the most satisfying objectives. Since I was on someone else’s game, I played their island and their layout. Creating my own was so much fun. I could set it up how I wanted and invite my neighbors. Though, it can be tedious, I absolutely love it. I am definitely the type of person who was made to design an island. An island designer if you will.

Since I am no longer to play Animal Crossing all day because it has been back to work, I find time periodically throughout my day or at night before be. I know, looking at screens is bad, but it is one of the ways I unwind. Because it is a calming game, I am able to relax. The only time I find it stressful is if I have almost enough bells to pay something off and have to knock it out right away.

But because of COVID, I don’t go out as much. I mostly go to work and if I have a big grocery trip, to the store. I normally order groceries online because I am highly introverted with anxiety in large crowds and loud noises. I think quarantine heightened my anxieties, but that is another story for another day. So I go only out for specific reasons and rush back home. Finding ways to keep romance alive and well, I turn to Animal Crossing. Since I can invite people to my island, what better way to have a date night?!

Maintaining relationships is hard while living in this COVID world. It can be hard and tricky to feel happy. Doing activities like playing games together is my favorite way to date without having to go out.
